Maisie Vest | Releasing Aug 28

$8.00

The Maisie vest is a cabled V-neck vest that is perfect for transitional weather. It has a slight amount of positive ease that makes it easy to layer and has two finishing options: a button band or a front-tie. The vest also features a half-twisted rib edge along the back of the shoulder that flows continuously into the armhole ribbing.

CONSTRUCTION OVERVIEW

The vest is worked seamlessly top-down. First, the back is worked with increases to shape the shoulders and then worked flat to the bottom of the armholes. Then, the front left and right are worked separately with increases to shape the V-neckline. Once each side of the front has been worked to the bottom of the armholes, the front left, back and front right are joined to form the body. The body is then worked to your preferred length and finished in half-twisted rib. Next, each armhole is worked in the round in half-twisted rib. For the button band version of the vest, the button band is worked in half-twisted rib with buttonholes on the right side as worn. For the front-tie version of the vest, you will work a half-twisted rib edge (like the button band without buttonholes) and then sew two pieces of i-cord at the bottom of the V-neckline.

This pattern is only charted, there are no written instructions for the charts.

SIZING

The Maisie vest is designed to be worn with approximately 4-7 in [10-18 cm] of positive ease, meaning the circumference of the vest is approximately 4-7 in [10-18 cm] larger than your bust when fully buttoned or tied. For the front-tie version of the vest, the bust circumference of the vest is 1 in [2.5 cm] larger than the button band version and the neckline depth is 0.75 in [2 cm] deeper. Additionally, the green sample is the intended length of the vest. The brown sample was shortened by 1.75 in [4.5 cm] (half of a chart repeat).
